Los Viajeros Mariachi

In the great tradition of Mexico, Mariachi bands perform at special gatherings to serenade brides, grooms, and others in songs of love and affection.  Many traditional songs of America, Mexico, South and Central America and Spain are performed.  Heroes, toreadors, lovers, warriors all in the tradition of bravura and machismo are song subjects.  Songs of places of special remembrance; songs about great moments in history; songs about love, are often performed.  Traditionally gathering on the great plazas of cities and towns, they will often play till early morning hours, mostly by request.  The crowd or “gente” will often dance.

Los Viajeros Mariachis maintain this tradition.  Starting with any song, they will typically ask the audience to choose something.  Most often they are able fulfill this request. Tight harmonies, virtuoso playing, and all around good time are had by all. All  seemingly pulled out of a hat and performed to perfection.  The program is never the same.  The audience chooses it's direction.  Comedy with a special emphasis towards children is a trademark. Los Viajeros Mariachi come from all parts of Mexico and Central America.  Their leader,  Hector Varel, is from Managua,  Nicaragua.  Los Viajeros are recognized as North Carolina's best Mariachi Band and earn a fulltime professional living playing for a myriad of events throughout the Eastern U.S..
